Getting There

Flights
There are no direct flights from Australia to Nepal, so you'll connect somewhere in Asia. Popular routes include:

  • Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong

  • Singapore Airlines / Scoot via Singapore

  • Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur

  • Thai Airways via Bangkok

Expect around 15–20 hours door to door from Sydney or Melbourne, depending on your connection. You'll fly into Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu.

When to arrive
We'd suggest arriving by Monday 30 November so you've got time to recover from the flight before the big day. If you can, stay a few extra days afterwards and explore. Check out our Kathmandu Guide for ideas.

Time difference
Nepal is 5 hours 15 minutes behind Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne in December. (Yes, 15 minutes. Nepal likes to do things its own way!)

Getting from the airport
The venue is only about 7 km from the airport, but Kathmandu traffic is unpredictable, so allow 20–40 minutes.

Airport pickups: We can organise someone to pickup you up from the airport. If you want to be picked up from the airport, pop your flight details on the RSVP form and we'll get in touch.

Otherwise, you've got a few options getting from the airport to your accommodation:

  • Hotel transfer: most hotels can arrange an airport pickup if you ask when you book. We recommend this, especially if you're arriving at night.

  • Airport taxi: use the prepaid taxi counter inside the terminal rather than taking an offer from someone outside.

  • Ride apps: Pathao and inDrive both work in Kathmandu.
