Do Australians need a visa?

Yes, but it's easy. Australian passport holders can get a tourist visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport, or apply online in advance through Nepal's Department of Immigration.

How much does it cost?

15 days: US$30
30 days: US$50
90 days: US$125
Children under 10: free

Most people coming for the wedding will need the 15-day or 30-day visa.

Our tips

• Apply online before you go if you can. It saves time in what can be a long queue at the airport. Only use the official Department of Immigration website, not third-party agents.

• Bring US dollars in cash to pay for your visa. Clean, undamaged notes are best.

• Bring a passport photo in case you're asked for one.

• Check your passport has at least 6 months' validity from the date you arrive and a couple of blank pages.
